If you’re thinking of training for a high-flying career have you thought about the fantastic opportunities that an Apprenticeship with Yorkshire Coast College (YCC) can offer you?
Apprenticeships are the ideal way of gaining ‘on and off -the-job’ training, earning money while you learn and getting a highly-valued qualification, all at the same time.
With so many people applying for jobs nowadays, businesses are always looking for people with real experience – with an Apprenticeship you get that experience whilst learning all the skills you’ll need for a lifetime of success.
Just ask the staff at Firmac UK Ltd, the world-leading manufacturer of sheet metal duct forming technology. For almost 20 years Firmac UK Ltd has employed Apprentices trained at YCC and now a quarter of its workforce is made up of former YCC Apprentices. Firmac UK Ltd General Manager, Simon Morrell, said:
“It’s difficult to recruit qualified and skilled engineers and, as a business, we have to look to the future. Apprentices are the best solution. Without the development of Apprentices we would have an ageing workforce.”
YCC currently offers a range of Apprenticeships in lots of different career areas, including Engineering or Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, Construction based careers such as Joinery, Brickwork or Plumbing & Heating or you may be interested in an office based career for which we offer Business Administration and Accounting (AAT).
YCC Apprenticeship success is Megan Collis, who at only 21 has already been promoted to Team Leader at Peregrine House, one of the leading independent care homes in her home town of Whitby. After starting out as a full-time student on Level 2 Health and Social Care Meg was soon offered an Apprenticeship at Peregrine House, Meg said;
“I had been on work experience at Peregrine House twice before. Once at secondary school and again whilst studying the full-time course at Yorkshire Coast College. It was a really lovely place to work so, I went up and asked about any available jobs.”
