NHS Mental Health Social Enterprise, NAVIGO, recently spent time promoting their services to staff and learners at Grimsby Institute as part of the Mental Health Week activities.

NAViGO is a non-profit Health and Social Care Community Interest Company that provides free NHS mental health and social care services throughout North East Lincolnshire.

Karen Barton, Projects Officer from NAViGO, explained the reason for the organisation taking part in Mental Health Week: “NAViGO is the leading mental health service provider in North East Lincolnshire. We’re trying to develop the youth element of our membership, so that young people are able to have an equal say in terms of how we develop our services and how the organisation is led, run and developed.

“We’ve also been trying to raise awareness in terms of mild and moderate mental health problems and engage people in talking about mental health.”

Jo Raven, Learner Mentor at the Grimsby Institute, said: “In our roles as Learner Mentors we support our learners every day with mental health issues. We need to develop good links with external agencies in case we need to refer learners and having them here at the Institute has helped to break down any barriers in case someone needs to use their services.”

Karen added: “If someone has any concerns about their own, or someone else’s mental health, we have a single point of access telephone number and I would recommend that they give us a call or contact their GP”
