Level 3 Sport learner, Natalie Stainton, is busy preparing for the Heptathlon of the English Schools National Athletics Final, where she will be representing Humberside on 19 & 20 September in Bedford, thanks to support from the Grimsby Institute.

17-year-old Natalie has just started the second year at the Institute and is looking forward to competing in the final. Natalie said: “This is my tenth year doing Athletics but I have always run for Lincolnshire before. Because I am studying at Grimsby Institute now I will be competing for Humberside instead.

“On the first day I’ll be competing in hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m and the next day is javelin, long jump and 800m. I train most days of the week. I’m not sure what I want to do when for a job when I finish my education but it will definitely be something to do with Sport.

Matthew Bloomer, Grimsby Institute’s Sports Maker, said: “We want to give our learners opportunities to fulfill their ambitions. All credit to Natalie as she has put herself through the trials and we wanted to be able to offer our support for the final.

“Natalie will need to stay over in accommodation during the competition and the Institute have been kind enough to donate that cost to help support her trip. Nat is one of our most valued learners and we wanted to help her achieve everything she can achieve.”
