Cleethorpes-born performer, Daniel Clift, recently returned to the region between finishing a run in the original cast of the West End’s hottest hit and heading off to Europe to star in one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s greatest musicals.
Twenty-four-year-old Daniel is a professional performer who trained at the Arts Educational Schools in London and most recently starred in award-winning musical, The Book of Mormon, at the Prince Edward Theatre in London. Daniel is now preparing to put on a pair of roller skates to take over the leading role of Rusty in Starlight Express in Bochum, Germany, a production that has played to over 15million spectators over the past 26 years.
Daniel, who was well known for performing locally before he moved to London, visited the Grimsby Institute to talk to learners from Levels 2 & 3 Performing Arts and students from BA Performance when Grimsby Institute’s Programme Leader for Acting & Drama, Angela Pearson, a friend of Daniel’s, heard he was back in town for a short visit.
Daniel spent time with the learners, talking about his career and answering questions about the industry, he said: “Thank you so much to everyone at the Institute for having me, it was so inspirational for me to meet the students and share my experiences.
“I hope they got as much out of it as I did. Angela was the first person to get me involved in Performing Arts so it was really fitting that she invited me to come and speak to the students. I had a great time.”
