Fans of football should head along to Grimsby Town Football Club’s Blundell Park Stadium when Inspire TCI, a local charity which raises funds to enable young people to achieve their dreams, compete against the Internet Mariners in a match being held on Tuesday 17th May to raise money for a Physiotherapy Centre at St Andrew’s Hospice.
Inspire TCI was launched by Mike Burton, a Sport Tutor at Grimsby Institute, over a year ago and has already helped almost 1000 young people to take part in sport and fitness based activities through his work in the community with the following goals:
- Mission – Supporting talented sports men/women and children of Grimsby & Cleethorpes to achieve their dream of becoming a champion in their chosen field/sport.
- Aim – To put the ‘great’ back in Great Grimsby and show the county and world how much talent we have in our local area!
- Future – Support the next English, British, World or Olympic champion to achieve their dreams!
Inspire TCI will be competing against the Internet Mariners, a team managed by Grimsby Institute’s Staff Development Coordinator, Iain Biglin, is a team representing fans of GTFC to show that rival fans can still be friends.
Mike said: “Inspire TCI is proving to be an immensely popular local charity and people have been incredibly kind and supportive to us since we started and without their support we would never have helped so many members of our community.
“We’re always aiming to find ways to support our community, and give back to those who do so much to help others, and it would be fantastic if our community could get behind this match and help our charity to support St Andrew’s Hospice, which we all know is such a worthwhile cause.
“Whether it’s monetary donations, or gifts for the raffle we will be holding on the night, everything is truly appreciated and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone at the match.”
All monies raised by the two teams is being donated to St Andrews Hospice to provide equipment for their new physiotherapy centre.
