Hospitality learners at the Grimsby Institute recently held a fundraiser for St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice, as part of their qualification, in the Gallery Restaurant.
Learners were tasked with developing their own fundraising event as Luke Falconer & Ellie Spivey, both 18 are currently training for a Level 3 Supervision and Leadership qualification, explained. Luke said:
“Our group came up with lots of different ideas and we decided to put them all together and come up with one big event to raise money. We’ve been doing a cake and tea & coffee sale with lots of activities; a tombola, name the teddy bear and guess the weight of the cake.”
Ellie added: “Because St Barnabas is for people with all different illnesses we thought we would focus on them as our charity. We knew the Gallery would be open and people are always interested in tea and we’ve had a good turn out.”
The event raised £160 for the charity.
