Staff and learners from the Grimsby Institute joined the estimated crowd of 250,000 who attended the National Armed Forces Weekend celebrations in Cleethorpes, which attracted high profile names including HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, and the Prime Minister, David Cameron MP.
The three-day festival took place in Cleethorpes with National Armed Forces Day being celebrated on Saturday 25th June across the country. Uniformed Public Services staff and learners invited guests to the resort to try their hand at a specially constructed assault course, which proved incredibly popular, with other staff from the Institute braving the crowds to offer information, advice and guidance about all the Institute has to offer.
Gill Alton, CEO Grimsby Institute Group, attended National Armed Forces Day 2016 with Vice Principal, Julie Moore, and took time to meet potential learners and join in the celebrations. Gill said: “I thought the event was a resounding success and a credit to the organisers. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole event, there was lots to do and see, it was great to see so many people really enjoying the day.”
