Current and past learners as well as representatives from local industry were in awe of an internationally renowned star of the dog grooming world at a recent seminar held at the Grimsby Institute’s Nunsthorpe campus.
Pammie Carmichael-Hogg, who has carved out an international seminar and competition career around the world, held a fantastic seminar, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Pammie who trained at the Starwood International Grooming school in Thailand, demonstrated the latest ‘craze’ in dog grooming within the UK; Asian Fusion.
Asian Fusion blends traditional UK breed styles with the more exotic Asian styles to create ‘human’ looking trims on various breeds of dogs. This is the latest development in grooming to hit the UK and is proving immensely popular with experienced groomers, learners and owners alike. Pammie is an excellent speaker and demonstrator who has education and training at the heart of everything she does.
Also in attendance was The Scissor Boutique, industry leads on grooming scissor sales, technology and maintenance. Mike and Mandy, owners of the Scissor Boutique are renowned nationally for their learner friendly advice and guidance, providing the audience with their first class knowledge. Mike and Mandy have been consistent supporters of the staff and learner at the Institute, with Mandy stating: “We always love coming to Grimsby. Love the students and staff. It is wonderful to be a part of their journey.”
Lee Lister, Associate Principal for Commercial Enterprise, thanked the work of Amanda and the rest of the grooming team at Nunsthorpe in organising an excellent event and commented:
It is essential for the Grimsby Institute to constantly invite industry leads in to demonstrate and present to our learners, this demonstrates a clear commitment to their future in a rapidly growing and changing industry, where being current and ‘cutting edge’ can make a real difference, post education.
