YCC Apprentice Iesha Nominated for an Award

On Friday 21st November business’s joined together at the Spa Venue Scarborough for the second annual Scarborough News Business Awards. 400 people from various business establishments across Scarborough attended for an evening of celebration.

Iesha Waterson, a Yorkshire Coast College Business Administration Apprentice was nominated for the Apprenticeship Award by her employer, Scarborough Job Match.

Sheena Stanger, Assessor for Business Administration and AAT at Yorkshire Coast College said: ‘Iesha was nominated for the Apprenticeship Award by her employer. They nominated her because of her complete commitment towards studying and balancing it with her work role. Whilst doing her Apprenticeship in Business Administration, Iesha also completed another qualification on Information Advice and Guidance, this did not affect her completing her Apprenticeship and she completed it within her deadline. Iesha always remained focused and dedicated and she is on track to achieve her Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration by March 2016. We are very proud of Iesha and what she has achieved so far.’

Iesha Waterson added:

‘I was delighted to be nominated for a Scarborough Business Award for Apprentice of the Year. Although I didn’t win I was honoured to be there and to have been shortlisted for such a big event, it really gave me a sense of achievement. It also showed me how Apprenticeships can truly give you that stepping stone sometimes needed to begin your desired career, and that hard work does pay off. I would honestly say that doing an Apprenticeship was one of the best things I have done. Thank you to Yorkshire Coast College for their support throughout and Sheena for my regular meetings. I continually pass on my knowledge of apprenticeships and how Yorkshire Coast College facilitate them to others, in the hope that others take the same route and provider.’
