University Centre Grimsby celebrates Graduation 2016

Staff, families and friends, joined over 400 students in celebrating at the University Centre Grimsby’s annual graduation ceremonies at Grimsby Town Hall and Grimsby Minster.

The four ceremonies, which took place over two days, was a momentous occasion as for the first time the University Centre Grimsby was able to award their students their own foundation degrees, one of only five Institutions in the UK to be able to do so.

The awards were compered by Mr Nathan Michael with special prizes awarded by Principal Guest, Mr John Widdowson CBE, Principal & Chief Executive of New College Durham.

Twenty-nine-year-old MBus Strategic Business Environment graduate, Robert Croucher, was pleased to learn he had been chosen for the e-factor Group Award for Outstanding Achievement, Robert said: “I didn’t expect the award. It feels great to be graduating today and to win the award is even better. Location was a vital thing for me I wanted to stay local and the University Centre Grimsby allowed me to do this. I’ve got a growing family so it was really important.”

The ceremonies were concluded by Chief Executive of the Grimsby Institute Group, Ms Gill Alton.
